War films target audience
I think for our trailer we can aim it at males and females,
but the main audience will be males due to the action content of it. The age
range would be 20-80. This is a big age gap due to the trailer could attract
young adults due to the action, and the older generation due to they would have
more stories of what happened and think about close to their hearts. Also the
wars are always playing a part in our lives especially for the fact that they
served their lives for us and that is the Moto people think about. Also if we
have the film as a release date near remembrance date, the audience may go up
as that is what people think of during this time. I think it would attract
males more than females as during the trailer we would be seeing more the males
preparing for battle and it would be more to heart. The social class that it
would attract would be anyone as it can relate to everybody.
War film music – Songs that provide this on you tube –
WWII sad song
The music would have to reflect what was going on during the
time of the war so slow and full of sorrow, it would have to be that way due to
the amount of people losing their lives and how many were still doing their
country proud. The music would involve mostly strings and bass to sound like
the roll of drums.
I also thought of having the British national anthem either
at the beginning or throughout a scene where we can see that they are off to
fight or even if we can make a scene where it looks like they are fighting.
Just the background of the music maybe no lyrics as this would then add tension
of what is going on.
Shots that we can use
I thought of having a shot that looks over a field of
poppy’s near the end of the film as this is what we all think of when we think
about the war.
I thought that we could have a three person shot of them
sitting them down next to a war bunker that is available in Gillingham. I
thought it could be a good idea of where we can film as we can film when it is
starting get darker or even n daylight and then change the brightness of the
actual footage.
For one of the locations we thought of using the dockyard
and fort Amherst. We thought of using them as they were used during the war and
would still be intact of its history which would then make it look more
realistic.
The clothing of the soldiers will have to be spot on as this
is actually what they used to wear and if we want it to look successful we need
it to be as close as we could possibly be.
We want to add in women into it as we thought then we can
get both genders into the trailer. The women’s costume and hair will have to be
spot on as well to add more of an affect.
We were thinking of doing a flashback video of the children
learning about their grandparents and even great grandparents. Then as the
story is being told we would then go back to the time in the war. This could be
quite tricky to do as we need to be able to clearly show what modern day is and
what is when they were younger. If we did the flashback situation, I thought of
looking at the grandparents telling them the story of when they were upgraded a
post and getting a medal of some sort and then we see a sweep of a man in front
of the screen and then see a hand putting the badge on their uniform.
We have now thought of having it as a world war three as we can have the modern day life incorporated into to it. this allows us to also push conventions of a war film. for example we thought of having mainly women in the trailer as this shows we are pushing conventions about war, and due to it being in modern day where women have the same amount of power and rights as men compared to back when the wars were.
